With theatrical roots in Chicago, Debbie was Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Roadworks Productions, founded by 1992 Northwestern Graduates. Roadworks held residencies at Steppenwolf Studio and Garage theater, and at Victory Gardens, and the company produced over 20 award winning shows including: the MW Premiers of Ken Lonergan's This is Our Youth, Phyllis Nagy’s Disappeared, Patrick Marber's Dealer's Choice, Eric Bogosian's subUrbia, Chuck Mee's Orestes, The Rock Musical, Howard Korder’s The Lights, & Mike Leigh's Ecstasy. In it’s 11 seasons, Roadworks earned over 20 Jeff Awards (Chicago's Tonys.)
Other projects have included: the film Michael Jordan to the Max, the IMAX movie PULSE: a STOMP Odyssey, and the documentary Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State for PBS and the BBC. Debbie co-produced Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 25th Anniversary special, hosted by Bill Murray featuring the acting ensemble.
As a consultant, Ms. Bisno has worked with a variety of organizations, non-profits and artists in marketing, fundraising and innovative programming. She has been a guest lecturer at Yale School of Drama. Board & volunteer affiliations: Board Member of Yale Summer Cabaret; she is Chair of the Friends of the Yale Institute for Music Theatre; and on the Steering Committee of FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics.) She lives between Connecticut and New York City, with her husband David Goldman and Portuguese Water Dog, Stella.
Roberta Pereira (Associate Producer)
Roberta Pereira has been working with Bisno Productions since 2010. Previously, she was an Associate Producer at Anne Bogart’s SITI Company, Executive Producer of Yale Summer Cabaret (New Haven) and Associate Managing Director for Yale Repertory Theatre/World Performance Project, where she produced a series of international music and theater events. Roberta also produced all the auxiliary events for the 2006 Dublin International Theatre Festival. As an independent producer, her credits include the Broadway premiere of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre starring Sir Patrick Stewart and T.R. Knight, Spacebar: A Broadway Play by Kyle Sugarman (Studio 42), USHER (New York International Fringe Festival, Outstanding Musical Award), the production concept of Ainadamar (winner of the Opera America Director-Designer Showcase), and We Declare You A Terrorist (Summer Play Festival). Roberta was also a Producing Consultant for London's Gate Theatre transfer of The Kreutzer Sonata to LaMama in New York City. Roberta is on the Board of Directors of Studio 42, she is a founding ensemble member of Tilted Field and also a member of Women’s Project Lab and art.party.theater.company. A graduate of Yale School of Drama’s Theater Management program, Roberta is originally from Brazil and currently lives in New York City.
